The port started to become a treasure which French, Spanish and English armies wanted to enjoy .During the first English domination, it was when George town was constructed near Calasfonts. Later being already Spanish it was named Villacarlos and nowadays It is Es Castell in honour to San's Philip Castle, placed in the entry of the port, witness of terrible naval battles, later to be destroyed by the Spanish army.

To a few minutes of navigation there was a lazaretto where those that were coming to the port had to remain in quarantine. And also the "Rabbits Island " or "Bloody Island", now named "King's Island". Where there was a military hospital that after many years left and declared in ruin, now is being recovered. Both of them can be visited, there is a boat available departing from Calasfonts.

In the XIXth and XXth century Calasfonts was a port of mythical fishermen, sailors, "parranderos", painters and poets, inspired by the magic and the captivation of this cove, for the battles and shipwrecks, for the precious dawns and love stories.
Some historical novels refer to the presence of prominent figures so important as: Ulysses , Barbaroja in his feats or Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton.
